Revolutionary Evolutions

In the past twenty years, big changes have happened in our world. Many new industries are created and have evolved to provide solutions to a changing world. Here is a list of those evolutions as enumerated by an international marketing company based here in the Philippines:

· Before,we used typewriter (using “liquid paper” to erase typo errors). Today, we use the computer. Editing has never been easier with “copy / paste”).

· Before, we had Wordstar, now we have MS Windows.
· Before, we make long-distance calls. People had to cue to wait for their turn to use the phone. Today, we use cellphones. You can contact the world anytime, all the time.
· Before, communication’s done through the postal office, or if you have a bigger budget, the telegram (for urgent messages but more expensive). Now, we use the internet. In seconds, you can contact the whole world.
· Before, we had Betamax/VHS. A cabinet gets filled with tapes at home, but right now, DVD or even USB. With one USB, you can store more than a movie.
· Before, we had long playing albums, now we use Ipod to store tons of music. As a result, a lot of companies in the US, like World House Music and Power Records who used to employ thousands of people, have now, less employees. They were not able to cope with the changes.
· Before, we drink Coke or Pepsi. Now we drink coffee more because of Starbucks.
· Before, there was no franchising. Franchising now is all over the world because of McDonald’s.
· Before, SM was only selling shoes but now it’s a one stop shop because of Walmart.
· Before, needs are very simple. We almost needed no gadget. But now, we have complicated gadgets and a lot of wants.
We all know that the only permanent thing in this world is change. The question now is are we ready to cope with these changes?
