Affordable hotel in Paris : Lux Hotel Picpus

I have been to France five times already. Four out of those, I stayed in this affordable hotel.

LUX HOTEL PICPUS

74, boulevard de Picpus 75012 PARIS
Tél. : +33(0)1 43 43 08 46
Fax : +33(0)1 43 43 05 22
Am I endorsing this hotel? YES! Especially if you are on a tight budget and still wants to stay in a comfortable place. So what are my reasons?
- AFFORDABLE: If you prefer to spend your money on worthy things like a trip up the Eiffel Tower, then stay here. You’d probably spend only a few hours inside the hotel anyway.

- ACCESSIBLE: From the Picpus station (metro line 6), turn left and literally cross two and a half streets and you are there! Just one stop away from the main station Nation, it provides access to several metro lines. The best? The stairs in Picpus is not very high. A big plus for someone like me who has to carry her own luggage from and to the airport!
- SAFE: Since it is so near, the possibility of being accosted by a drunkard or unwanted beings is decreased.

- GOOD BREAKFAST: It’s buffet so you can eat all you want in order to prepare for that whole day of walking. A warning though, it’s just a small buffet which includes a few kinds of bread, yogurt, cheese, juice, coldcuts, fresh fruits, and of course coffee or tea. If you want to save on your precious euros, there is bakery at the end of the street.

- GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE: Quickly answer emails. Reception is open 24 hours. Like any other hotels in France, brochures are available. Possible to leave your suitcase before or after check in/ out time.
- NICE AMENITIES: Small bathroom but clean and newly renovated. There’s a hairdryer. Get a ref. You can bring in your own food.

Some warnings though:
- The hotel is near the metrorail. Thus, you will hear (and feel!) trains when they begin to run early in the morning.
- Rooms are small. You can sometimes hear the noises and steps of your neighbors. But then, you are not supposed to stay in the room all day!
- No tourist spots around the area. Only a few restaurants nearby. If you prefer to wake up near Louvre Museum, then you have to pay for it.

But over all, it's a good hotel for its price and quality.
How about you? Can you recommend a favorite hotel in Europe?
